Chhattisgarh Public Service Commission

Chhattisgarh Public Service Commission came into being on 23rd May 2001 under article 315 of the constitution. Sri Mohan Shukla was the first Chairman and Sri B L Tiwari was the first Secretary of the commission.
The commission is to perform the following functions
  • To conduct examinations for the appointments in the state
  • To advise the state government on the following:
    • On all matters related with the state civil service.
    • On matters related with the eligibility, transfer and promotion of the civil servants.
    • On matters related with monetary benefits and compensation to the civil servant by the state government.

Plan of Examination

  1. The combined competitive examination consists of following stages:
    • State Service Preliminary Examination for selection of candidates for Main Examination, and 
    • State Services Main Examination and Interview for selection of candidates for the various categories of services and post.
    • Preliminary examination will consist of one paper (objective type) of 300 marks. The question paper contains 100 multiple choice questions in General Studies & Mental Ability. The time duration of preliminary examination is 2 ½ hours. 
    • The question paper shall be supplied in Hindi and English languages only.
  2. The candidates who qualify in preliminary examination require appearing in Main Examination. The main examination comprises 4 papers as described below-

    (1) Compulsory Paper

    Paper I General Studies
    Time Duration:  2.30 hrs
    No. of question:  100        
    Maximum Marks : 300

    Paper II Language (Gen.Hindi & Gen.English)
    Time Duration:  2.30 hrs
    No. of question:  100        
    Maximum Marks : 300

    (2) Optional Papers

    Paper III Optional Paper-I          
    Time Duration:  2.30 hrs
    No. of question:  100        
    Maximum Marks : 300

    Paper IV Optional Paper-II        
    Time Duration:  2.30 hrs
    No. of question:  100        
    Maximum Marks : 300

    Note: Only one subject to be selected from the list of optional subjects. Optional subject will have two papers.

4. Interview – The candidates who find place in merit list of main examination are called for Interview. The interview will carry 150 marks (with no qualifying Minimum marks).

State Service Examination administered by Chhattisgarh Public Service Commission is a high level competitive examination. Graduates in any discipline are eligible to apply for this examination if they fulfill the minimum eligibility requirements as fixed by the state commission.
