Summary Of The Book

Spectroscopy is a reference text that deals with the newest advances in spectroscopy. It includes an outstanding solid introduction to spectra, and detailed explanations of the basic concepts involved in spectroscopic methods.

Some of the topics covered in the book include Infrared Spectroscopy, Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Spectroscopy, Molecular Formulas, Carbon-13 Spectra, Spin-Spin Coupling, Ultraviolet Spectroscopy, Advanced NMR Techniques and Mass Spectrometry. There are 10 Appendices in the book, and they include Some Representative Chemical Shift Values for Various Types of Protons, Calculation of Proton (1H) Chemical Shifts, 13C Coupling Constant, Common Fragment Ions Under Mass 105, and Infrared Absorption Frequencies of Functional Groups.

This latest edition of Spectroscopy comes loaded with certain salient features to update students on the latest technologies. Chapter six includes additional techniques providing a modernized presentation of one-dimensional NMR spectroscopy. Appendix 10 is the “Index of Spectra” that includes the newest spectra techniques. Chapter eight now also includes an in-depth exploration of biological molecules in mass spectrometry.

Other additional features include exhaustively updated spectrographs that are created using the latest techniques so as to enhance presentation and accuracy. Lapman’s Spectroscopy has been considered as one of the best resources for students of spectroscopy for several years. This fourth edition also consists of answers to numerous problems and covers modern techniques such as HECTOR, COSY, and DEPT.

This book is an all-inclusive practical learning guide beneficial for those who are new to spectroscopy as well as to those who are looking for a reliable text on the subject.
