Civil Services Examination 2013 Cut-Off and Marksheet

Civil Services Examination 2013 Results and Marksheet

UPSC, on June 18, 2014, released the list of the marks and scores of the Candidates, for the Prelims, Mains and Interview stage of the Civil Services Examination, 2013. There has been a significant bounce in the prelims cut-offs. On the other hand, there was a huge fall in the Mains cut-off list. This was mainly due to the new pattern of the examination scheme.

UPSCPORTAL presents a detailed analysis of the Results and marks for Civil Services Examination 2013.

As per the new Mains syllabus, the total marks of the Mains examination stand at 1750. The cut-offs under the 2013 Prelims and Mains examination have been decided at:

Category

Prelims cut-off

Mains Cut-off

General

241

564

OBC

222

534

SC

207

518

ST

200

510

An interesting fact about the declaration of the results and marks by the UPSC is that, the UPSC has also released the criterion for minimum requirement in each paper, for Prelims as well as Mains.

As per the New criterion,

Maximum Marks

Minimum Passing Marks

General Studies (GS) Paper-I

100x2 = 200

30

CSAT Paper-II

80x2.5 = 200

70

Total

400

However, the minimum eligibility criterion does not mean that getting this many marks would get you a place in the next stage of examination. Based on the latest results, the cut-offs for the 2013 Prelims exam stand at 241 for the General Category. This number is far more than the cut-off mark for 2012 prelims.

UPSC has also announced the minimum requirement of marks for each subjects of the Mains examination. The criterion for different papers is as follows:

Subject

Maximum Marks

Minimum Marks required

English (Compulsory)

300

90

Indian Language (Compulsory)

300

75

Essay

GS3

GS4

Again securing only these marks does not ensure your name for the list of the next stage of exam (Personality test).
