Civil services exam result is out, Women bag top four positions


The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) have announced the results of its civil services exam on its website www.upsc.gov.in.

It is the first time that the final results have been declared within four days of the closing date for the interviews.

According to the press note published on the website, a total of 1,236 candidates have been recommended for appointment. This year’s toppers are Ira Singhal, Renu Raj and Nidhi Gupta. Four out of the five toppers are women.

Renu Raj, a topper from Kerala, has secured the second rank in the examination.

Dr Raj, a native of Changanassery in Kottayam, is working with ESI hospital in Kolllam. She bagged the second rank in her first attempt of the civil services exam. Raj said the feat was unexpected and owed to the support and prayers of family members and her well wishers.

The civil services preliminary examination was conducted on August 24 last year at 2,137 venues in 59 centres across the country. According to reports, a total of 1,364 posts are to be filled, for which about 4.51 lakh people appeared for the examination.
