  • It is a national festival to arouse patriotic feelings and portray that India is a land of unity in diversity.
  • Ministry of tourism under Government of India is the nodal ministry which organises it.

What are the events that it usually contains?

  • The six-day festival has been recently organised in Red fort as a part of Republic day celebration after the success of its first edition organised as a part of Independence day celebration 2016.
  • The Parv includes the performance of different dances, food court, crafts mela, a photo exhibition by Ministry of information and broadcasting.

  • The recently organised Bharat Parv contained cultural performances having folk dances, tribal dances etc.
  • Even music from different parts of the country was arranged through North zonal Cultural centre and cultural troops from different states and union territories of India.
  • The food court set up contained 50 stalls set up especially by National Association of street vendors of India along with different hotel management institutes and ITDC.
  • The Crafts Mela had handicrafts from all over the country arranged by the ministry of Textiles and state governments. “Mera Desh Badal Raha Hai, Aage Badh Raha Hai” has been the theme of Photo Exhibition.
  • The Republic Day Tableaux which had been stationed at the venue was a special attraction.
  • The festival was kept open for common citizens without any entry fee.
  • There was also an 11 theme state pavilion where each state displayed their initiatives and achievements, tourism etc.

Conclusion

Thus the festival promotes country’s rich cultural diversity and invokes the idea of “Ek Bharat Shrestha Bharat” and is one of the many initiatives taken by the central government to promote cooperation among citizens and getting to know the entire India.
