ICAR to set up model mechanised farms at 100 villages across country

  • The Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) has planned to set up model mechanised farm units at select 100 centres particularly in peripheral villages of agricultural colleges and research institutes across the country to motivate farmers understand and apply advantages of the latest technology in agriculture.

  • Each unit will be spread over 40 acres and it will be an all-machinery site – right from sowing seeds, clearing of weeds and harvesting produce.

  • Villages in and around leading research colleges and institutes will be accorded preference.

  • The ICAR will set up all machinery at these institutes.

Bangladesh violence: U.N. expresses concern

  • The United Nations has expressed its concern over the ongoing violence in Bangladesh resulting from the non-stop opposition-led blockade and hartals .
  • Stéphane Dujarric, spokesman for the Secretary-General Ban Ki-Moon, made the statement in response to a question on Bangladesh’s current political situation at the regular press briefing .
  • The U.N. Secretary-General tasked former Assistant Secretary-General in charge of political affairs Oscar Fernández-Taranco to liaise with the government and the opposition. Mr. Fernández-Taranco is doing the job, the spokesman said without giving details.

SAP India launches new suite

  • SAP India announced the launch of its new business suite SAP S/4 HANA, to help Indian customers.
  • The new product is fully built on the advanced in-memory platform and SAP Labs India played an integral role in its architecture development, the company said.
  • The suite is built on the advanced in-memory platform and will help Indian enterprises to take better business decisions by accessing the capability for planning, execution, prediction and simulation from within the business application.
