CSIR-Structural Engineering Research Centre (CSIR-SERC), Chennai, is a premier National Laboratory under the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research. The major areas of R & D thrust of the Centre include Structural Concrete Engineering & Technology, Sustainable Materials and Composites, & Retrofitting/rehabilitation of Structures, Computational Structural Mechanics for Analysis and Design & Software Development, Transmission Line Towers, Metal Structure Behavior & Fatigue and Fracture, Structural Health Monitoring and Evaluation & Forensic Analysis and Wind Engineering and Earthquake Engineering.

The Centre has built up excellent facilities for testing of structures and structural models, and also for mathematical modeling and simulation. Vacancy Details:

• SCIENTIST GR.IV [2] : 12 (UR-9, OBC-02 & ST- 01)
• Pay : 18750 + Grade Pay of `.6600 in the Pay Band PB-3 `.15600-39100
• AGE: Not exceeding 35 years for general category, 38 years for OBC and 40 years for ST /PWD candidates as on the last date for receipt of applications

Minimum Educational Qualification and Experience: M.Tech./M.E. or equivalent recognized Post graduate degree in Structural Engineering with First Class or equivalent CGPA with two years experience  OR Ph.D in Structural Engineering

Desirable : Candidates having knowledge of advanced structural analysis and design; familiarity with computer programming; use of software(s) and experimental techniques for Structural engineering applications will be preferred.

Benefits under Council service:

• These posts carry usual allowances i.e. Dearness Allowance (DA), House Rent Allowance (HRA), Transport Allowance (TA) etc. as admissible to the Central
  Government employees stationed in Chennai and as made applicable to CSIR-SERC.
• All scientists are eligible for professional Update Allowance.
• In addition to the emoluments indicated against each category of posts, benefits such as reimbursement of medical expenses, leave travel concession, conveyance advance and house building advance are available as per rules of CSIR-SERC.
• The selected candidates under CSIR-SERC is governed by the New Defined Contribution Pension Scheme of Government of India as made applicable with effect from 1st January 2004.

Relaxations:

• Relaxation in age limit upto 5 years may be allowed to Council/Government/Autonomous Bodies/Public Sector employees in accordance with the instructions and orders issued by the Government of India from time to time in this regard.
• Relaxation in case of Ex-servicemen will also be applicable as per provisions.
• Relaxation of experience in the case of meritorious candidates with proven academictrack record may be permitted by the competent authority at any stage of selection.
