  • The Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation attended the birthday celebrations of Rabindranath Tagore and described him as a multifaceted personality who contributed across many fields throughout his life.

About:

  • Rabindranath Tagore was the first Indian who received the Nobel Prize in 1913 and he has the honour of writing the national anthems of two countries. He established Shanti Niketan and provided a new dimension to education and made an indelible contribution to the field of education.
  • Gurudev laid great emphasis on the promotion of his mother tongue, Bengali and the emphasis on Indian philosophy and thought is quite visible across his works of art.
  • Gurudev had a great contribution to the freedom struggle and his thoughts had an immense impact on the entire movement.
  • Tagore’s thoughts are equally relevant and inspirational in today’s times and his thoughts are a wealth for India and the whole world.
