Delhi, Andaman Nicobar Island Civil Services (DANICS)

About DANICS:  The term D.A.N.I.C.S applies to "Delhi, Andaman Nicobar Island Civil Services", which is a prestigious service in India, mainly administering the Delhi and Union territories of India. This service is just like the state Civil Service.

Selection Criteria:

For selection into DANICS, one has to qualify the Civil Services Exam, which is held every year at the notified dates. After qualifying, one can get the DANICS Officers Grade "B" posts.

Postings of DANICS Officers:

Mainly after the training period of two years, D.A.N.I.C.S officers are initially posted as Assistant Collector (District Administration, Delhi) or Special Duty Officers on deputation in the Autonomous Bodies of Delhi like MCD, NDMC, DDA etc. or as Deputy Secretary in different Ministries of Delhi Government. After doing job perfectly for a suitable time, they get promotion into Senior Grades (JAG-I and JAG-II/SAG) and get Induction into IAS (AGMUT Cadre).

Concept to DANICS:

The concept of the posting of DANICS officers is also very important. They usually are similar in rank with the State Civil Services officers. But Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India, is the actual Cadre Controlling Authority for DANICS. They are regulated by the Delhi Government on the recommendation of the respective Governor/Administrator/ Lieutenant Governer of that Union Territory.
