Regulating Act 1773
- First attempt by the British Parliament to regulate the affairs of the East India Company;
 - Centralised the administration of Company’s territories in India;
 - Governor of Bengal was designated as the Governor General of Bengal and Council of 4 members was appointed for Bengal; (1) Barwell, (2) Clavering, (3) Philip Francis (wanted to replace Hastings) and (4) Monson (later replaced by Wheeler).
