  • Culture wise, Japan has a vast influence of Buddhism, which came to the region from India in the 6th Century.
  • Indian Ambassador to Japan, Ms. Deepa Gopalan Wadhwa, highlights that there is a strong link between Shinzoism and Hinduism. and there has been long historical links between the two countries.
  • Japanese art and culture has an environmental perspective and is an example of beautiful calligraphy.
  • Japan also has the world’s oldest theatre art.
  • Sumo Wrestling is the National Sport of Japan.
  • Baseball and Football are also very popular among the People.
  • The Japanese capital- Tokyo- is one of the most densely populated cities in the world.
  • Japan is the 3rd largest Economy in the World.
  • Japanese PM- Shinzo Abe- was the Chief Guest for this year’s Republic Day in India.
  • India is only country to have Annual Prime Ministerial Summit with Japan.
  • India has been receiving liberals grants in the form of ODA loans from Japan.
  • Also the deep friendship between the two countries is evident from the Projects like the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC).
