Announces Research Opportunities in

‘Guide the Trajectory of National Progress’

Indian Institute of Space Science and Technology (IIST), which is a deemed to be University under Sec.3 of the UGC Act 1956, provides excellent research opportunities. Research forms a significant part of this premier Institution and is seamlessly integrated with academic curriculum. This Institute is in the process of setting up world class research laboratories and the researcher will also have access to ISRO’s facilities if needed. IIST has presently opportunities for research in the following areas and invites applications for Senior Research Fellows (SRF) and Junior Research Fellows (JRF) to work in the following projects.

1. Senior Research Fellows
Title of the Project
Numerical simulation of turbulent reacting flows in semi-cryogenic and tri-propellant engines

Qualification & Experience
M.Tech. in Thermal Sciences/Propulsion Engineering/Aerospace Engineering.
One year research experience (could be at M.Tech. level) in Computational Fluid Dynamics is desirable.

Duration of the Project
3 years

2. Junior Research Fellows
Title of the Project
Development and feasibility study of Polymeric Scaffolds for tissue culture under micro-gravity

Qualification & Experience
M.Sc. in Chemistry.
NET/GATE qualified.
Specialization or research experience in Organic Chemistry/Polymer Chemistry is desirable.

Duration of the Project
3 years

3. Junior Research Fellows
Title of the Project
Nano composites for electronic and photonic applications

Qualification & Experience
M.Sc. in Chemistry. Experience in polymer science is desirable.
M.Sc. in Physics. Experience in *photonics is desirable.
NET/GATE qualified.

Duration of the Project
4 ½ years

Qualification: First class with minimum 60% marks in M.Tech/ M.Sc and 65% marks in BE/B.Tech.

Age limit: 28 years as on 15-1-2009 (SC/ST/OBC/Persons with disability are eligible for age relaxation as per rules).

How to Apply:
Application form can be downloaded from IIST web-site at www.iist.ac.in and submitted electronically. The application with attested copies for all certificates should be sent to The Administrative Officer, Indian Institute of Space Science and Technology (IIST), VSSC Campus, ISRO Post,Thumba, Thiruvananthapuram - 695 022, Kerala, by ordinary post so as to reach on or before January 15, 2009. The envelope should be superscribed as ‘Application for the post of SRF/JRF in IIST’. Only Indian Nationals need apply. The general conditions for SRF and JRF are given below.

General Conditions:
The qualification and experience prescribed are minimum requirements and do not automatically make a candidate eligible to be called for interview. Only short listed candidates will be called for interview.
The remuneration will be on par with similar offers made by comparable Institutions of National Importance.

Application with relevant documents should reach on or before the last date stipulated.

Application received after the last date prescribed will not be considered.

Outstation candidates called for interview will be paid to and fro second class Railway Fare by the shortest route including Reservation/Sleeper charges.

Department reserves the right not to fill-up all, or any of the posts.
