Civil servants have to play a decisive role in social transformation: Meira Kumar

Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar asserting that the civil servants have to play a decisive role as catalysts for social transformation, urged them to create an enabling environment to empower the poor and underprivileged sections of society and restore them a position of equality.

"Civil servants had increased responsibility in execution of developmental projects besides implementing socially progressive legislations," said Meira Kumar, while speaking at the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) countries Public Service Commission Members Conference here today.

Further praising the role of Commissions in selecting the civil servants, she said they had to make persistent efforts to keep pace with shifting paradigms and expectations of the people.
