State Bank of India invites the applications from eligible Indian Citizens for appointment as Probationary Officers in State Bank of India (SBI). Candidates selected for existing vacancies are liable to be posted anywhere in India.
1. ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA:
(a) Educational
Qualifications: General Candidates
and others–60% or more marks in class XII and 55% or more marks in Graduation
or Post Graduation. SC/ST/PWD Candidates–55% or more marks in class XII and
50% or more marks in Graduation or Post Graduation.
Computer Literacy: Proficiency in computer (Certificate from a reputed Institute
or having computer as a subject in class XII or Graduation).
(b) Age Limit: Not below 21 years and not above 30 years as on 01.07.2008
(c) Relaxation in the
Upper Age Limit to Reserve category candidates: Upper age is relaxable by :
(a) 3 years in the case of OBC candidates; (b) 5 years in the case of i) SC/ST
candidates, ii) Ex-servicemen (including Emergency Commissioned Officers/ Short
Service Commissioned Officers) provided applicants have rendered at least five
years continuous Military Service and have been released on completion of
assignment (including those whose assignment is due to be completed within one
year) otherwise than by way of dismissal or discharge on account of misconduct
or inefficiency or /on account of physical disability or have been released on
account of physical disability attributable to Military Service or on
invalidment iii) Candidates who had ordinarily been domiciled in Kashmir
Division of the State of Jammu and Kashmir between 1st January, 1980 and 31st
December, 1989, c) 10 years for VH/OH (Gen); 13 years for VH/OH (OBC) and 15
years for VH/OH (SC/ ST) candidates.
Selection Procedure
a) Tier I–Preliminary
Examination: Time 2 Hrs. (combined). Candidates
will be called for an objective type examination. The objective type examination
will consist of i) Reasoning Ability Test, ii) Quantitative
Aptitude, iii) General Awareness/ Computer Knowledge, iv) English
Language.
Question paper will be in bilingual form i.e. in Hindi and English except the
test of English language.
b) Tier II–Main Test:
Time 3 Hrs. (combined)
This will be an Objective and Descriptive type examination. The objective type
examination of 2 hours duration will consist of : i) Test of Reasoning, ii) Data
Analysis and Interpretation, iii) Marketing Knowledge, iv) Test of English
Language
The Descriptive type examination will be a test of English knowledge–Time 60 Minutes
c) Tier III–Group Discussion & Interview: Qualifying candidates will be called for Group Discussion and Interview and have to secure 40% (35% for SC/ST/PWD) aggregate marks i.e. Group Discussion and Interview put together to be eligible for selection.
Tier II and Tier III marks will be aggregated and arranged in the descending order for candidates who have qualified in both the tiers and depending on the vacancies, selection will be made from the top merit ranked candidates in each category. Candidates will have to pass both in Tier II & Tier III for final selection.
Date of Preliminary Exam (TIER- I): October 12, .2008
HOW TO APPLY: All applications for the post will be registered online. The online applications will be registered between July 14 & August 16, 2008.
No other means / mode of application will be accepted.
GUIDELINES FOR FILLING APPLICATION:
1. Candidates should have
a valid email id.
2. Candidates should have the Deposit Journal No. (receipt of payment of fees )
from CBS branch of State Bank of India before applying online.
3. The payment of fees should be made on or before 16.08.2008. This date will be
same for the candidates belonging to far–flung areas.
4. The candidates should enter his /her name exactly as it appears on the
payment receipt.
5. Candidate should note down the Registration no. and the Password for future
reference.
6. Candidate should take a printout of the system generated application form for
future reference.
7. Candidate should also keep the original payment receipt along with the
printout.
