(Help) New UPSC pattern mains optionals will be removed
New UPSC pattern mains optionals will be removed
Question:
Hi friends,
last December there were many rumors about UPSC changing the exam pattern
for MAINS as well as prelims . In the new mains pattern they are planning to
remove all optionals and replace them by subjects like LAW,ECONOMY,PUB AD
etc which will be compulsory for all . This has made me worried because i am
taking Geography and psychology optionals next year which is my first
attempt, and if UPSC introduces changes midway that is 2 or 3 yrs from now
then after attempting once in the current pattern i will have to study all
the new subjects of the new pattern and prepare again ...which will be
massive blow to not only me but all other aspirants. only the guys who r
taking law , pub ad and economics as their optionals now will be
comparatively safer others will be screwed :(
Do reply and please help clear my doubts

Answer:
I think this won't be possible for UPSC to add all this subject. Every subject will be of degree standard. So they can't expect us to study all the subjects in depth. Moreover they will teach those subjects in training period. To reduce there work on their part, they are considering to add it to Mains exam. Don't loose your nerve now. Stay confident on your part.
ALL THE BEST
