Ques: Please inform me about the number of times the Constitution of India is amended till 2009.When was it last amended?

HI Madhura,
The Indian Constitution was amended for 109 times till now. The latest amendment is approved on August 4th 2009 by the parliament. The last amendment is as follows:

The 109th Constitutional Amendment, 2009: Provision of reservation for Scheduled Castes (SC) and Scheduled Tribes (ST), in the Lok Sabha and state assemblies, extended for another ten years beyond January 25, 2010. This is done by amending the Article 334 of the Constitution.

However the above info will become stale in few days as our Union Cabinet has already approved the 50% quota for women in the panchayat Raj system. To provide such a reservation, the article 243(D) (that deals with the reservation of seats in Panchayat Raj) has to be amended. The The Union government is planning to introduce this Bill in the coming winter session. So the above info on 109th amendment will be short live as the latest amendment.
