Recruitment by Examination-Applicants to Posts Ratio

The number of applications for an examination divided by the number of posts to be filled by the said examination gives the Applicants to Posts Ratio (APR). The APR gives an index of the number of candidates aspiring for Civil Services/Posts through each of these examinations. As per APR calculations, 369 candidates applied for every post filled through Civil Services Examination, 2008 as compared to 455 for the year 2007. In respect of Special Class Railways Apprentices’ Examination, 2009 number of candidates applied for each post was 3012, which was the highest amongst all examinations.
