Ministry of Environment and Forests is implementing the World Bank assisted Integrated Coastal Management (ICZM) project through the Society of Integrated Coastal Management (SICOM). SICOM is the National Project Management Unit of the ICZM project. SICOM is located in Delhi and operating all the coastal states and Union Territories of Government of India. SICOM is inviting applications for the positions given in the table below. The project period is five years and the staff at SICOM will be selected based on contract / co-terminus with the project. Salary indicated below are the maximum for first year of service.

Economist:

Qualification: Ph.D in Economics
Experience: Minimum 2 years experience after completion of Ph.D degree; proven skills in articles / research paper / report preparation. Experience / knowledge in cost – benefit analysis, risk assessment, valuation of non-market products, knowledge in region growth assessment and macro-economics, economic planning and budgeting are desirable qualification
Duty / Responsibility: Evaluation of reports and proposals; cost benefit analysis and risk analysis; input to ICZM plan preparation on economics, resource analysis, valuation of environment; investments, economic growth, performance analysis; economic data collection and storage; coordination of ICZM project implementation; monitoring project impacts (urban and rural)

Geologist cum remote sensing specialist

Qualification: Ph.D in Geology / Geomorphology
Experience: Minimum 2 years experience after completion of Ph.D degree. Experience in CZM and proven skills in coastal & marine geology / geomorphology and application of remote sensing & GIS for coastal management are desirable
Duty / Responsibility: Evaluation of reports and proposals; providing input / knowledge on geology, geomorphology, land use, mapping, geomorphologic changes, forecast, physical oceanography, disaster management, generation of maps, RS & GIS support for ICZM plan preparation; data collection and storage; evaluation of project impacts; coordination for ICZM project implementation; Monitoring project impacts

Sociologist:

Qualification: Ph.D in Sociology
Experience: Minimum 2 years experience after completion of Ph.D degree. Proven skills in articles / research papers preparation and social auditing of coastal communities and experience in analysis of social institution functions and mechanisms by application of social research methods and statistics are desirable qualifications
Duty / Responsibility: Evaluation of reports and proposals; input to ICZM plan preparation on coastal social institutions, socioenvironmental analysis, demography, socio-economic development and social mobilization in project areas; sociology data collection and storage; environmental and social impacts & auditing; coordination for ICZM project implementation; and monitoring of project impacts (socio-economics)

Technical Assistant – A

Qualification: Ph.D in Marine Science
Experience: Minimum 2 years of experience after completion of Ph.D; Collection of primary and secondary data on costal and marine environment . Experience in report, research papers/ articles preparation are desirable qualification. Experience in coastal environment management activities are desirable
Duty / Responsibility: Assist the technical activities of National Project Director & Technical Expert and other Officers of the Society; coordination with SPMU

Public Relation Officer:

Qualification: Mater degree in public relation / communication (or) Diploma in advertisement / media / journalism / MBA
Experience: Minimum 2 years experience after completion of Masters degree. Experience in coordination of meetings / workshops, web design and publishing and experience in report preparation are desirable qualifications
Duty / Responsibility: Responsible public relations, communications and advertisement; Implementation of communication strategy developed for the ICZM project; Organise conference, workshop and meetings; preparation of brochures, publications and reports in association with technical experts; coordinate ICZM project implementation; web design and mass media activities
