IAS Aspirant Stabbed To Death In New Delhi
A
civil servant aspirant died and another was injured after they were stabbed by
two businessmen at Gujranwala Town in northwest Delhi on Tuesday afternoon.
The victims, Dhananjay Tiwari (24) and Shiv
Sharma (25), apparently tried to prevent the accused from beating up a security
guard after which they were assaulted.
While
Tiwari
died on the spot, Sharma is in hospital with little chance of survival.
The two accused, Rajesh Chugh and Vivek
Sharma, have been arrested. According to the
police,
the victims were on their way to B Block in Gujranwala Town in an Indica car to
meet Tiwari's younger brother Raj Kumar who lives there.
They were accompanied
by
friends Ajit Singh and Siddharth Vasvani. When they reached the entrance to the
B Block they noticed two men beating up a security guard.
They were apparently
using
a hockey stick to beat him.
"The four men then got out of the car and
tried to intervene. There was a heated exchange between both the parties which
led to a scuffle," said a police officer.
Tiwari
and
Sharma apparently managed to overpower the accused. Chugh and Vivek, however,
were carrying knives with which they attacked the victims.
Eyewitnesses said
that
Tiwari was stabbed several times in the abdomen. The accused were apparently
prevented from fleeing by people who had gathered at the spot.
The two accused are businessmen based in
Gujranwala Town. The two victims were studying for their civil service
examinations.
They had come to Delhi after completing
their higher studies in Varanasi and were staying in a rented flat in north
Delhi. A case of murder has been registered at the Model Town police station.
