(News) UPSC : Haritha V Kumar, scored 53% in IAS Exam 2012

Civil services topper scored  53%: UPSC

The final marks of successful candidates of the civil services examination were made public for the first time by the Union Public Services Commission website on Thursday.

The move came following a direction by the Central Inforamtion Commission (CIC) to make the results public on the UPSC website

The list for this year shows that the topper, Haritha V Kumar, a woman engineer from Kerala, scored 53% marks (1193 out of 2250).

Earlier, the marks were sent to the candidates individually.

For the third straight year, a woman has topped the UPSC exams. Kumar, who cracked it on her fourth attempt, did her BTech from Kerala University. V Sriram, who did his MBBS from Kerala University, ranked second. The third ranker was Stuti Charan, who has done a BSc from Jodhpur University.

The preliminary examination was conducted on May 20 last year for which 5,36,506 candidates applied and 2,71,422 candidates appeared.
