Over 100 students from Maharashtra clear UPSC exam
At least five candidates from the state have made it to the top 100 merit list of the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) examination, results of which were declared on Thursday. The state has also seen an improvement in the number of students who have cleared the exam, with over 100 of them making it to the merit list as against 88 last year.
Based on the results of the written examination conducted in December 2013 and the interviews held in April-June, 2014, a total of 1,122 candidates have been recommended for Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Indian Foreign Service (IFS), Indian Police Service (IPS) and Central Services - Group 'A' and Group 'B'. There are 180 vacancies for IAS post, 32 for IFS and 150 for IPS posts.
Varunkumar Baranwal bagged the 32nd rank while Vijay Rathod was ranked 84th in the all-India merit list. There is no estimate on who topped the state. Vipin Itankar, Sheetal Patle and Prabhav Joshi also made it to the top 100.
