IPS Vision

After going through the article on Medical Standards for IPS many friends have sought clarifications on what 6/9 vision is? Some have given me their eye lens number and asked whether it is possible for them get qualified in IPS medical test. Some have asked – what stereoscopic vision is? Let me answer. 6/6 vision means, a person can read all that a normal person should read from a distance of 6 meters. 6/9 vision means an defective eyed person can read the content on the test board from a distance of 6 meters, what a normal person can read from 9 meters. 6/5 vision means – you have a good eye sight and you can read all that from 6 meters what a normal person from 5 meters would read. If your one is 6/6 then other could be 6/12. Or you can have both the eyes 6/9. but you shall fail the exam if your both the eyes are 6/12. Then there is no perfect correlation between spectacle number and eye sight. Two people having both eyes 6/9 could have different Spectacle eye lens numbers. What is stereoscopic vision is too simple a question. It simply means you should be able to perceive true depth. Regarding the eye test. Many want to know how could they pass the eye test without having a good vision. I ask- what is the need for that? Many persons simply do not know the nature of IPS job. Perhaps it is the most risky of jobs you get through the Civil Service Examination. One realises this only when he sits with his force in a jungle during dark night, silently, like a dead log. Then he waits for the Naxals to pass. It is a difficult task to aim your fire arm during night time even for a normal visioned person. What a person with abnormal vision would do?
