About BCECE Examination

Bihar Combined Entrance Competitive Examination (BCECE) is conducted for admission to the first year B.Sc (Engineering)/ B.Arch/ BTech (Agri. Engg & Dairy Tech) courses at the following colleges :

• Bhagalpur College of Engineering, Bhagalpur

• Bihar College of Engineering, Patna

• Bihar Institute of Technology, Sindri, Dhanbad - 828123

• Maulana Azad College of Engineering and Technology, Patna

• Muzaffarpur Institute of Technology, Muzaffarpur

• Regional Institute of Technology, Jamshedpur (50%)

• National Institutes of Technology (for Bihar quota only)

• College of Agricultural Engineering, Pusa, Samastipur

• Sanjay Gandhi Inst. of Dairy Technology, Patna.

Eligibility :

The candidates must have passed the Inter (Sc) Exam with Chemistry, Physics and Maths as subjects or an equivalent exam. Candidates who have appeared in the qualifying exam are also eligible. They should be medically fit and the age must be 17-22 years on July 1 of the year of admission. (5 years relaxation of the upper age limit for the SC/ST candidates).

Admission Procedure :

Application form and syllabus for the entrance exam can be obtained from the Engineering Colleges/notified agencies in the month of January/ February. The completed applications along with exam fee should reach appropriate authority by the notified date usually in the month of March/ April.

Selection :

Selection is made on merit in BCECE conducted at various centres in the State. The test is held usually in the month of May/ June. Separate merit list is prepared for general/reserved categories. List of successful candidates is notified in leading State newspapers /colleges.

Pattern & Medium of Examination:

The BCECE comprises of three papers of Physics, Chemistry and Maths of 1 hour duration each. The standard of exam is that of Intermediate and the medium is in English. 

Reservation of seats:

SC-14%,ST-10%,BC-10%, children of armed personnel-1 seat. Two seats in each college of Sindri, Muzaffarpur, Patna and Bhagalpur are reserved for those holding a diploma in Engineering. Seats are also reserved for Central Government nominees and for candidates belonging to States/Union Territories which do not have engineering colleges. 

Domicile Restrictions:

Residents of Bihar. Candidates whose parents are employees to Tata Iron & Steel Company are eligible to seek admission at Bihar Institute of Technology (BIT), Sindri only.

Bihar Combined Entrance Competitive Examination Board

The Bihar Combined Entrance Competitive Examination Board (BCECEB) has been constituted by the Government of Bihar in accordance with the Bihar Combined Entrance Competitive Examination Act 1995. The Board presently conducts Combined Competitive Entrance Examinations (BCECE) for admission in Graduate level Vocational Courses in Engineering, Medical and Agricultural streams available in the Universities, Colleges and Institutions of the State of Bihar as well as those situated outside Bihar against State Quota seats.

The Board also conducts Post Graduate Medical Admission Test (PGMAT) for admission in Post Graduate Medical Course in Medical Colleges of the State of Bihar.

The Board has also been conducting following examinations :

• Combined Entrance Competitive Examination for admission in various Polytechnic, Para Medical-Dental (Matric Level) and Para Medical (Intermediate Level) courses in Government or Government Recognised Institutions in the State of Bihar.

• Combined Entrance Competitive Examination for admission to different Certificate courses of Industrial Training Institutes (ITI) of Bihar state.
