Indian Air Force Conducts Selection Process for SSC Officers in Operational Support Group 2010

Eligibility criteria: Administration & Logistics:Graduate with atleast 60% marks or Post Graduate with atleast 50% marks in Science /Commerce / Arts /Management / Engineering or LLB.

  • Meteorology: PostGraduate in Science / Geography /MCA with atleast 50% marks. Should have passed Maths and Physics at Graduation level.
  • Accounts: Graduate with atleat 60% marks or Post Graduate with atleast 50% marks in Commerce or IOWA l CA with B Com / M.Com.

Education: Post Graduate in English /Defense Studies /Psychology / Mathematics /Physics /Statistics / Computer Science / Management or M Ed after PG or PhD with atleast 50% marks.

Lower age limit for all categories is 20 years while upper age limit for Graduates is 23 years, for post graduates/Integrated BA LLB it is 25 years and for M.Ed/PhD./LLB(after 3 years graduation) it is 26 years as on 1st July, 2010.

The minimum height for male candidates is 157.5cms and that for female candidates is 152cms.

Important dates(Tentative):

  • Release of notification:September 2nd week, 2009(Confirmed)
  • Last date for receipt of applications: October 2nd week, 2009
  • Date of Entrance Test: November End, 2009
  • Commencement of training: July, 2010

Application procedure: Candidates can either send a handwritten/typed application form(on an A4 size paper) according to the format given in the admission notification or download the application form from the website www.careerairforce.nic.in. The candidates have to send the filled application form along with two passport sized photographs and two self addressed envelopes.

Selection Procedure: Selection is IAF Ground Duty Branches is a multi stage procedure. Candidates are first required to appear in a Common Entrance Test(CET). CET has objective as well as descriptive questions. CET has two parts:
Part A(MCQ): English and General Awareness
Part B: Descriptive Test in English (comprehension passage, letter and paragraph writing).

Those who qualify in CET are called for Officer Like Qualities (OLQ) Tests which includes Pyschological tests, inteliigence tests, Group Tests and Interview. Final there is a medical test after which the merit list is prepared.
