UNION PUBLIC SERVICE COMMISSION
National Defence Academy and Naval Academy Examination (I), 2010
Examination Notice no. 03/2010-NDA-I
NDA Entrance examination will be conducted by the Union Public Service
Commission on 18th April 2010, for admission to the Army, Navy and Air Force
wings of the NDA for the 125th course and naval academy for the 45th 10+2
(Executive branch) course commencing from 30th December 2010. The approximate
number of vacancies to be filled on the results of this examination will be 335
(195 for the Army, 39 for Navy, 66 for the Air Force and 35 for the Executive
branch of Naval Academy).
Vacancies are provisional and may be changed depending on the availability of
training capacity of National Defence Academy.
A candidate is required to specify clearly in the application form the services
for which he wishes to be considered in the order of his preference. He is also
advised to indicate as many preferences as he wishes to opt so that having
regard to his rank in the order of merit due consideration can be given to his
preferences when making appointments.
Important Dates
Conditions of Eligibility
Age Limits, Sex and Marital Status : "Only unmarried male candidates born not
earlier than 2nd January 1992 and not later than 1st July, 1994 are eligible".
The date of birth accepted by the Commission is that entered in the
Matriculation or Secondary School Leaving Certificate or in a certificate
recognised by an Indian University as equivalent to Matriculation or in an
extract from a Register of Matriculates maintained by a University which must be
certified by the proper authority of the University or in the Higher Secondary
or an equivalent examination certificates. These certificates are required to be
submitted only after the declaration of the result of the written part of the
examination. No other document relating to age like horoscopes, affidavits,
birth extracts from Municipal Corporation, service records and the like will be
accepted. The expression Matriculation/Higher Secondary Examination Certificate
in this part of the instruction includes the alternative certificates mentioned
above.
Educational Qualifications :
(i) For Army wing of National Defence Academy :- 12th Class pass of the 10+2
pattern of School Education or equivalent examination conducted by a State
Education Board or a University.
(ii) For Air Force and Naval Wings of National Defence Academy and for the 10+2
(Executive Branch) Course at the Naval Academy :- 12th Class pass of the 10+2
pattern of School Education or equilvalent with Physics and Mathematics
conducted by a State Education Board or a University.
Candidates who are appearing in the 12th Class under the 10+2 pattern of
School Education or equivalent exmination can also apply for this examination.
SUCH CANDIDATES WHO QUALIFY THE SSB INTERVIEW BUT COULD NOT PRODUCE
MATRICULATION/10+2 OR EQUIVALENT CERTIFICATES IN ORIGINAL AT THE TIME OF SSB
INTERVIEW SHOULD FORWARD THE CERTIFICATES ALONG WITH PHOTO COPIES THEREOF TO 'ADDL
DIRECTORATE GENERAL OF RECRUITING, ARMY HQ, WEST BLOCK-III, R.K.PURAM, NEW
DELHI-110 066' AND FOR NAVAL ACADEMY CANDIDATES TO NAVAL 'HEADQUARTERS,DMPR
(R&R) SECTION, ROOM NO 204, 'C' WING, SENA BHAWAN, NEW DELHI - 110 011' BY 5th
December, 2010 FAILING WHICH THEIR CANDIDATURE WILL BE CANCELLED. ALL OTHER
CANDIDATES WHO HAVE PRODUCE THEIR MATRICULATION AND 10+2 PASS OR EQUIVALENT
CERTIFICATES IN ORIGINAL AT THE TIME OF ATTENDING THE SSB INTERVIEW AND HAVE GOT
THE SAME VERIFIED BY THE SSB AUTHORITIES ARE NOT REQUIRED TO SUBMIT THE SAME TO
ARMY HQ OR NAVAL HQ AS THE CASE MAY BE. Certificates in original issued by the
Principals of the institutions are also acceptable in cases where
Boards/Universities have not yet issued certificates. Certified true
copies/Photostat copies of such certificates will not be accepted.
In exceptional cases the Commission may treat a candidate, who does not possess
any of the qualifications prescribed in this rule as educationally qualified
provided that he possesses qualifications, the standard of which in the opinion
of the Commission, justifies his admission to the examination.
Note 1 : Candidates appearing in the 11th class exam are not eligible for this
examination.
Note 2 : Those candidates who have yet to qualify in the 12th class or
equivalent examination and are allowed to appear in the UPSC Examination should
note that this is only a special concession given to them. They are required to
submit proof of passing the 12th class or equivalent examination by the
prescribed date (i.e. 5th December 2010) and no request for extending this date
will be entertained on the grounds of late conduct of Board/University
Examination, delay in declaration of results or any other ground whatsoever.
Note 3 : Candidates who are debarred by the Ministry of Defence from holding any
type of commission in the Defence Services shall not be eligible for admission
to the examination and if admitted, their candidature will be cancelled.
Note 4 : Those candidates who have failed INSB/PABT earlier are not eligible for
Air Force.
UPSC to Conduct Civil Services Examination 2009 at 19 Centres from Oct 23

Union Public Service Commission will be conducting Civil Services (Main)
Examination, 2009 at 19 Centres from 23.10.2009. Admission Certificates to all
eligible candidates have already been issued. Letters of rejection citing the
ground (s) for rejection have also been sent. If any applicant has not received
either of the above communications, he/she may contact UPSC Facilitation Counter
on Tel No.23381125, 23098543 and 23385271. The candidates can also send messages

India’s first woman career diplomat Chonira B Muthamma died on Wednesday
India’s first woman career diplomat Chonira B Muthamma died in the early hours
of Wednesday in a city hospital. She was 85.
Muthamma was born at Virajpet in Kodagu district in 1924, in a modest Coorg home
and her father was a DFO. Muthamma completed her schooling at St Joseph’s Girls
School in Madikeri and later graduated from the Women’s Christian College with a
triple gold medal. She did her post-graduation in English literature from
Presidency College in Chennai, again with a distinction.
In 1949, she wrote the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) examination and
became the first woman to enter the civil services.
UPSC to Conduct Combined Defence Services Examination on February 14, 2010
The Union Public Service Commission has decided to hold the Combined Defence
Services Examination (I), 2010 on February 14 next year for admission to Indian
Military Academy, Naval Academy and Air Force Academy.
The examinations will be held for courses commencing in January 2011 and for
Officers Training Academy, Chennai for the courses (Men and Women) commencing in
April 2011, said an official release.
The last date for all applications to reach the UPSC is October 26, 2009, the
release said.

Panchayati Raj and I&PR Minister of Orissa announced New Courses for IAS
Aspirants
Panchayati Raj and I&PR Minister Prafulla Samal recently
launched a specially designed course and scholarship programme to help large
number of youths prepare for the civil services (CS) examination here.
Developed by city-based educational institution Lisas, the
programme would enable young students qualify the CS examination with better
awareness and guidance.
Former OPSC chairman Bibekananda Patnaik, Higher Education
Secretary MS Padhi and Lisas director Linu Chayani were present.
Tamilnadu PSC to inaugrate Rural IAS Coaching Academy (KRIASCA) at
Krashnagiri
Krishnagiri Rural IAS Coaching Academy (KRIASCA), will be
inaugurated on Friday.
A.M. Kasi Viswanathan, Chairman, Tamilnadu Public Service
Commission will inaugurate the academy at the Old Polytechnic premises on the
Bangalore-Chennai National Highway.
V.K. Shanmugam, District Collector told The Hindu that his
dream of creating such an academy in the educationally-backward district is
taking final shape after a year of his joining duty in the district.
He said the initial intake would be about 30 students. The
number would be increased depending on the interest shown by IAS and IPS
aspirants.

The
