With consistent hard work and tremendous support from my parents, the success kissed my feet. It was never my childhood dream but it developed when I was in the medical college. The reason was that there was no civil officer in my family. I studied in Government Medical College, Srinagar. I was working on a house job while preparing for the exams. This situation made me to face hardships. The successes came late but in introspection I believe it was a good learning experience. I learned how to succeed in life.

(Success Story) UPSC Topper 2015 - Kuldeep Dwivedi (AIR-242) from Lucknow

It took Lucknow’s Kuldeep Dwivedi nearly 30 minutes to explain to his father what it meant to score the 242nd rank in the Civil Services Examination conducted by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC).

Surya Kant Dwivedi, who is a security guard at University of Lucknow’s works department, could not believe that his son cracked the prestigious UPSC exams and may become an Indian Police Service officer.

“They do not understand what IPS is all about. They just think that a sub-inspector is the most powerful person in the police department. I had to tell them that after completion of training I will be posted as assistant superintendent of police (ASP) in some district. And when they realised that I have now become an officer. There was complete silence. Tears rolled out from their eyes,” Kuldeep, whose mother is a homemaker, told HT.

Kuldeep, youngest among three brothers and a sister, wanted to become civil servant since he was a child.

(Success Story) UPSC Topper 2015 - Sheema Qasba (AIR-209)

Union Public Service Commission-conducted Civil Services examination is considered to be the toughest to crack. Those who qualify are eligible for the elite All India Services and central services.

Every year just a few hundred out of lakhs of aspirants manage to clear the Civil Services exam. It takes several months, sometimes years to clear the exams.

But the toughest exams also bring out the best from the aspirants, many of whom struggle a lot, swim against the tide and overcome a lot of barriers to achieve their dreams.

One such story from the recently declared exams is of Sheema Qasba, who is among the 10 candidates from Jammu and Kashmir who have cracked the exams. A lawyer with a leading private firm in Delhi for the last three years, Sheema is at the cusp of fulfilling what she set out to achieve - to be a police officer.

(Success Story) UPSC Topper 2015 - Sandeep Kumar

For Sandeep Kumar, son of a rickshaw puller, the journey to realising his dreams has not been an easy one. The 28-year-old Dalit scholar, who did his BA in Political Science through correspondence, has cracked the civil service exam despite all odds.

Kumar says the death of his father fuelled in him the fire to crack the exam and secure a better future for his family.

“I have always wanted to be a civil servant. I believe that to represent my community and to formulate policies that are more inclusive across caste lines, people from the backward classes need to have a bigger presence in the services,” he said. Kumar lives in a transit camp for slum dwellers displaced from Kathputli Colony in west Delhi.

Kumar did not have the luxury to attend coaching classes. His 10×12 ft makeshift cabin is where he studied for the exams. He used to work as an accountant in Moti Nagar, earning Rs 5,000 a month and studying after work. He finally quit to focus on the exam.

“Working and studying simultaneously was quite a task. Since my father died, my brother and I were the breadwinners. We had to run the household and support our mother, who has supported us for years. My brother works in an MNC. He encouraged me to quit my job and focus solely on the exam,” he said.

Kumar’s success has inspired several neighbours, most of whom are children of migrant labourers, to prepare for the exam as well. However, Kumar is not very content as his rank qualifies him for the IPS and IRS, but not the IAS.

Maniram Sharma, The Deaf Candidate Get Into IAS After 15 Years Old Battle For Justice

Maniram Sharma has won a 15-year-old battle for justice. On Thursday, this deaf IAS candidate learnt he has made it to the service.

With this, Maniram has not just won a personal battle but a milestone victory for disabled persons like him who have been kept away from the premier government service.

Maniram's case has been highlighted by TOI over the past couple of years — how his efforts were thwarted on one ground or the other, till he finally went through surgery to make his aided hearing so good that he gave his IAS interview this time by the oral question-and-answer method. Despite this, his induction into the service was just not happening.

Universe

Introduction

The universe is a huge wide-open space that holds everything from the smallest particle to the biggest galaxy. No one knows just how big the Universe is. Astronomers try to measure it all the time. They use a special instrument called a spectroscope to tell whether an object is moving away from Earth or toward Earth. Based on the information fromthis instrument, scientists have learned that the universe is still growing outward in every direction. Scientists believe that about 13.7 billion years ago, a powerful explosion called the Big Bang happened. This powerful explosion set the universe into motion and this motion continues today. Scientists are not yet sure if the motion will stop, change direction, or keep going forever.

Photosynthesis

INTRODUCTION

Photosynthesis is the process by which plants, some bacteria, and some protistans use the energy from sunlight to produce sugar, which cellular respiration converts into ATP, the “fuel” used by all living things. The conversion of unusable sunlight energy (solar energy) into usable chemical energy, is associated with the actions of the green pigment chlorophyll. Most of the time, the photosynthetic process uses water and releases the oxygen .We can write the overall reaction of this process as :

Biology
The Excretory System

INTRODUCTION

Cells produce water and carbon dioxide as by-products of metabolic breakdown of sugars, fats, and proteins. Chemical groups such as nitrogen, sulfur, and phosphorous must be stripped, from the large molecules to which they were formerly attached, as part of preparing themfor energy conversion. The continuous production of metabolic wastes establishes a steep concentration gradient across the plasma membrane, causing wastes to diffuse out of cells and into the extracellular fluid.
