Plz. clear my doubt regarding Language

Hi ALL,
I m Rupinder. I m IAS Aspirant and i m beginner and want ur help. I want to clear my doubt about languages. I want to ask that is it compulsory to have Good English to crash IAS exam. I think there is 300 Marks exam only for englsih. Is there any other language that i can choose,like Hindi or Punajbi instead of Englsih ?

Another thing if English is not compulsory and i can choose Hindi or Punjabi, then Please tell me that in which language i will get Questions of my optional subjects. Eg. Geography is one of my optional, then in which language i will get questions and in which language i will be allowed to answer for Geography Questions.

Last thing i want to know that if i have option to choose hindi or Punjabi language, instead of English, then during interview in which language they will ask questions ?

Plz, help me out so that i can start my preparion for 2008 exam.

hai Rupinder,
this is rama.I read your doubt regarding
command on english language.Rupinder,as for as
the rules are concerned you can choose any of
the languages mentioned in viii schedule includ
-ing interview.but as you mentioned there is
one compulsory paper on english in mains & you
don't get a waiver in that.you do not have a
option to all together ignore English,however
you can give your prelims,mains & as for as my
knowledge is concerned even interview.
But there is no need to worry
regd. the compulsory paper also b'coz it would
be your matriculation level.this site contains
the previous exam papers on that.you can go
through them.
you will also have a regional language
paper in mains for 300 mrks.You can choose any
of the lang.of viii schedule
So, all the best & don't worry
about all these things & try to develop your
command on English b'coz it's useful for your future tooo.

Hi, I'm Post graduate with Master's degree in Engineering from a university abroad.I was born on July 1979,I would like to know if I' would be eligible to take up Civil Services exam 2009. I understand the requirement says I should not be over 30 by 01 aug 2009,I would have completed my 30th birthday by Aug-2009 and hence the doubt. advance thanks for the reply .. Madan

Hello Am 35 yrs old and belongs general category .presently working in middle east am partialy blind with my left eye and my one leg is shorter i would like to know wether i can get age relaxation if so what certificatess should i produce regarding my handicap and can i get those certificate from my present work place and should it be attested by indian embassy. it will be great if some one reply me. Thank you.
