Saksham Anganwadi and Poshan 2.0
- Ministry of Women and Child Development has issued Operational Guidelines regarding implementation of ‘Saksham Anganwadi and Poshan 2.0’.
- The scheme has been approved by the Government of India for implementation during the 15th Finance Commission period 202l-22 to 2025-26.
About:
- Saksham Anganwadi and Poshan 2.0 is an Integrated Nutrition Support Programme.
- It seeks to address the challenges of malnutrition in children, adolescent girls, pregnant women and lactating mothers through a strategic shift in nutrition content and delivery and by creation of a convergent eco-system to develop and promote practices that nurture health, wellness and immunity.
- Nutrition Support for POSHAN through Supplementary Nutrition Programme (SNP) for children of the age group of 06 months to 6 years, pregnant women and lactating mothers (PWLM); and for Adolescent Girls in the age group of 14 to 18 years in Aspirational Districts and North Eastern Region (NER);
- Early Childhood Care and Education [3-6 years] and early stimulation for (0-3 years);
- Anganwadi Infrastructure including modern, upgraded Saksham Anganwadi; andPoshanAbhiyaan.
The objectives of Poshan 2.0 are as follows:
- To contribute to human capital development of the country;
- Address challenges of malnutrition;

IT industry for fresh personal data protection bill
- IT industry players have appreciated the government’s move to withdraw the personal data protection bill and have sought participation in the consultation process for the fresh draft.
- The industry was critical of the data protection bill tabled in Parliament by the Joint Committee on Personal Data Protection Bill.
About:
- The Joint Committee on Personal Data Protection Bill, 2019, headed by BJP member PP Chaudhary had tabled its report in Lok Sabha on December 16, 2021 which had a number of different points than the draft protection data bill (PDP) Bill prepared by the Ministry of Electronics and IT.
- The government withdrew the Personal Data Protection Bill from Lok Sabha and said it will come out with a “set of fresh legislations” that will fit into the comprehensive legal framework. US-based ITI, whose members include all IT majors appreciated the government’s move to withdraw the Parliamentary panel version of the bill.

10th NPT Review Conference
- The Tenth Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT)Review Conference, scheduled to take place in New York from 1 to 26 August 2022, will review progress on the implementation of the treaty.
About:
- NPT is an international treaty with the aim of
- preventing the spread of nuclear weapons and weapons technology.
- to foster the peaceful uses of nuclear energy, and
- to further the goal of disarmament.
- It was opened for signature in 1968 and entered into force in 1970. In 1995 it was extended indefinitely.
- It has 191 State Parties. India is not a party to it.
- It establishes a safeguards system under the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).
UNSC Counter-Terrorism Committee
- India will host diplomats and officials from all 15 countries of the United Nations Security Council, including China, Russia and the U.S., for a special meeting on terrorism, in Delhi and Mumbai in October.
About:
- The meeting of the Counter-Terrorism Committee (CTC), which India is chairing for 2022 as a member of the UNSC, will focus particularly on challenges such as terrorism financing, cyberthreats and the use of drones.
- New Delhi is expected to highlight cross-border threats from Pakistan and Afghanistan at the meeting, which will come two months before India completes its tenure as an elected member of the UNSC (2021-22).

Financial Inclusion Index
- The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) said that India’s financial inclusion index (FI-Index) for the year ended March 31, 2022 improved to 56.4 from 53.9 in the previous year, with growth seen across all its sub-indices. The index is published annually in July.
About:
- It is released by Reserve Bank of India.
- The index for the FY 21-22 improved to 56.4 from 53.9 in 2020-2021, with growth seen across allits sub-indices.
- It captures the extent of financial inclusion across the country by including details of banking,investments, insurance, postal as well as the pension sector.
- Index has been constructed without any base year and reflects cumulative efforts of allstakeholders over the years towards financial inclusion.
- Comprises of three parameters including access, usage and quality and has 97 indicators.

Centre of Excellence for Biomedical Device and Diagnostics Innovation
- Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati has established the ICMR-DHR Centre of Excellence for Biomedical Device and Diagnostics Innovation and Commercialisation to cater for rural India with a focus on healthcare delivery to the last-mile population.
About:
- The Centre of Excellence is situated at the Centre of Nanotechnology and Jyoti and Bhupat Mehta School of Health Sciences and Technology of IIT Guwahati.
- The primary objective of the centre is to develop three indigenous products in the domain of healthcare that can be commercially successful in the near future.
- They would also work to detect biomarkers using microfluidic and semiconductor nano-biosensors to detect various non-communicable diseases (NCDs) such as chronic kidney disorder, post diabetic complications, liver or pancreatic malfunctions, cardiac illnesses, and urinary tract infections, said a press release issued by IIT Guwahati.
