24/7 Helpline for Women

  • National Commission for Women (NCW) has started 24/7 Helpline for Women affected by violence.
  • It has been developed in collaboration with Digital India Corporation.
  • It can be used by any girl or woman aged 18 years and above.

About NCW:

  • It is a statutory body under the National Commission for Women Act (1990).
  • NCW works toward protection of Women Rights and help needy women through

    Review the Constitutional and Legal safeguards for women.

    Facilitate redressal of grievances.

Nano Urea Liquid Fertiliser

  • National Fertilisers Limited (NFL) and Rashtriya Chemicals and Fertilisers Ltd (RCF) signedMemorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Indian Farmers Fertiliser Cooperative Limited (IFFCO)for ‘transfer of technology of NUL fertiliser.
  • Nano Urea Liquid (NUL) contains nano-scale nitrogen particles which have more surface area and number of particles making it more impactful.

Significance

  • Reduces the requirement of conventional Urea by 50% or more.
  • Improves Soil, Air & Water quality.
  • Cheaper than conventional urea.

International Financial Services Centre

  • Several foreign financial institutions looking to set up investment entities in Indian International Financial Services Centres (IFSCs) have hit the pause button pending negotiations of India’s terminated bilateral trade agreements.

About:

  • In 2017, government had terminated bilateral trade investment treaties with 58 countries.
  • An IFSC is an offshore financial centre that facilitates flow of various financial products and services across countries for customers outside the financial system of the host country.
  • India has so far developed one such centre, Gujarat International Finance Tech (GIFT) City (Gandhinagar).

Global Internet Forumto Counter Terrorism

  • Global Internet Forumto Counter Terrorism (GIFCT) expands scope of its Database. It aiming for crack down over white supremacy and far-right militias.

About 

  • It is an NGO designed to prevent terrorists and violent extremists from exploiting digital platforms.
  • Founded by Facebook, Microsoft, Twitter, and YouTube in 2017, the Forum was established to foster technical collaboration among member companies, advance relevant research, and shareknowledge with smaller platforms.

::ECONOMY::

IMF slashes India’s FY22 GDP outlook

  • In its latest World Economic Outlook report, the International Monetary Fund (IMF) slashed India’seconomic growth projection for FY22 to 9.5% from 12.5% estimated in April, citing a slow recovery in consumer confidence.
  • Global growth forecast has been maintained at 6%, unchanged from the previous outlook.
  • India’s overall fiscal deficit, including both the Centre and states, is projected to marginally narrow to 11.3% of GDP in FY22 from 12.8% in FY21.
  • Gross debt-to-GDP ratio is estimated to rise to 90.1% in FY22 from 89.4% in FY21.

::SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY::

Nauka-Russia Module

  • Russia upgraded its capabilities on the International Space Station after its new Nauka module successfully docked with it after a nervy journey from Earth.
  • Nauka, meaning science in Russian, is a space module launched by Russia to replace its existing Pir Module at International Space Station (ISS) to serve as a research facility.

About ISS:

  • ISS is a low-earth orbit space station, launched in 1998, with five participating space agencies asNASA (United States), Roscosmos (Russia), JAXA (Japan), ESA (Europe) and CSA (Canada).
  • It helps in carrying long-term research on human health under microgravity along with physical,material and space science.
