Meet UPSC Toppers from Jammu and Kashmir


Four candidates from the Valley have cracked the prestigious civil services exams, the results of which were declared by the Union Public Service Commission, on Saturday. While Baseer-Ul-Haq tops the chart with 46th rank, Afaq Giri gets 457th, Yasin 459th and Deeba Farhat 553th rank.

A girl from South Kashmir's Bijbehara town, Farhat comes from a middle class family. She is serving as a Kashmir Administrative Services (KAS) officer posted in the rural development department in South Kashmir. She had cleared KAS in 2011.

Another girl from the state, Priyati Sharma, who got 136th rank, cleared the Civil Services exams in her first attempt.

A resident of Bishnah, about 20-km from the Jammu city, Priyati said her father had motivated her to become an IAS. Her father GP Sharma is deputy director J&K horticulture department.
