Chief Minister M Karunanidhi will inaugurate the Periyar Centre in New Delhi on Sunday. Dravidar Kazhagam leader Veeramani said while a statue of Periyar will be unveiled at the function by Union Shipping Minister G K Vasan, the Kalaingnar computer centre will be opened by Union Minister Farooq Abdullah at the centre. Thol Thirumavalavan will inaugurate the Periyar IAS and IPS coaching Centre.

The centre, located in the institutional area of Jasola, was built at a cost of Rs 9 crore. Proposals have been sent to the AICTE, Government of Delhi and Guru Gobind Singh Indaraprastha University for establishing a Periyar Management and Computer College at the centre. There were plans for starting MBA and MCA courses in the near future.
