Chief Minister Nitish Kumar condemns change in CSAT syllabus

Chief Minister Nitish Kumar today decried change in syllabus making English essential in the Civil Services Aptitude Test (Prelims) by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) saying it would cause "an injustice" to the aspirants from rural areas. "I decry the change in the UPSC's CSAT (prelims) syllabus making English an essential subject... it will cause an injustice to the aspirants from the rural areas", Kumar told reporters on the sidelines of his favourite Janata Darbar programme here.

He said he had received a letter from a candidate from the centre. "I studied the letter and I felt that it is not justified", Kumar said adding he had already written a letter to the centre about it. "The system of making English as essential subject be changed... it will be an injustice for the candidates from rural areas in Bihar and Uttar Pradesh", he said.
