(News) CSAT: Aspirant are Clueless & Confused

The first-ever Civil Services Aptitude Test (CSAT) that will be conducted by the Union Public Service Commission on June 12 has left applicants confused and disappointed. The UPSC has not clarified on the total number or the type of questions that will be asked in the exam till now though there are only 10 days left for the exam. While the students are clueless on how to prepare for the exam, the coaching centres too are not in a position to train them. About 35,000 students have applied from the state for CSAT this year. Students from the state have been doing well in the civil services exam for the last three years by being ranked in the top 10 at national-level. This year, about 60 students were selected from the state for various civil services.

With confusion surrounding the exam pattern, students and coaching centres are worried over the results this year. “The exam is giving us sleepless nights since the UPSC has not given any clue as to what the questions will be like and how many questions will have to be answered. We were only informed that the exam duration will be of two hours and carry 200 marks. It becomes tough for us either to prepare for the exam or for devising a time management strategy in the absence of clarity on the question paper pattern,” said Mr B. Shesha Sai, a civil service aspirant.
