UPSC: Hyderabad & Tirupati were Missing from the list of exam centres for the IAS (Pre.) Exam Scheduled to be held on May 26
The Civil Services notification for 2013 issued by the Union Public Service Commission on Tuesday came as a shocker to aspirants in the state as Hyderabad and Tirupati were missing from the list of exam centres for the preliminary exam scheduled to be held on May 26.
From the state, only Visakhapatnam figures in the list of exam centres.
During the last few years, the UPSC had been holding the prelim exam in Hyderabad, Tirupati and Visakhapatnam in Andhra Pradesh.
Nearly 30,000 candidates from AP register for the exams every year and in Hyderabad alone, the UPSC sets up nearly 40 exam centres every year as around 80 per cent of the candidates are from the city.
Candidates think UPSC ‘goofed up’
Civil Service aspirants from the city are now a worried lot about Hyderabad not featuring in the list of centres for the Civil Services examination in the notification released by the UPSC.
Candidates have urged UPSC to give a clarification over the issue as most of them believe that there might be a “goof-up” on the part of the Commission while drafting the notification which led to omission of Hyderabad and Tirupati from the list of exam centres.
Hyderabad, however, figures in the list of the Mains exam centres where exams will be held for physically-challenged candidates. UPSC has been conducting Mains for PHC candidates in the OU PG College, Saifabad, for the last few years.
