(Success Story) UPSC Topper 2015 - Mishal Queeni Dcosta (AIR-387)
It was celebration time for her family as it received the news of Michelle Queenie D'Costa cracking the UPSC examination. It was the dream of Michelle's father, an agriculturist, that her daughter took to civil services. Michelle, an engineering graduate, secured 387th rank in UPSC examination 2015.
"My dad always inspired me to become an IAS officer and I did try my best to achieve that feat but ended up with 387th rank," an elated Michelle told TOI. She hails from Niddodi, a village in Neerude in Mangaluru taluk, 20 kilometres away from city. She completed her primary school studies in her village and received BE degree from R V College of Engineering in Bengaluru in 2011. "After my graduation, I started putting efforts to crack the competitive exam so took up coaching in Delhi," she says adding that she is ready to take any responsibility given by the government.
Her father, Lazarus D' Costa who is overjoyed by achievement, said: "I am really happy because my dream of seeing a civil servant in my house has seen light of the day." He recalls that when he was working in Chennai, he used to meet a lot of bureaucrats in the line of his duty. "I witnessed their private as well public life very closely and always urged my children to follow them," he adds.
Michelle has one elder sister Nishol Rani D'Costa and a younger brother Queenson Honey D'Costa. Nishol and Queenson both are engineers and work in Bengaluru. Their mother Hancy Felcy D'Costa is a home-maker.
