Teflon — Heat Resistant
- In 1938, Roy J. Plunkett who was working at the DuPont Company’s Jackson Laboratory, accidentally invented “Teflon” while researching new Chlorofluorocarbon (CFC) refrigerants. During his research, he observed a white powder that was chemically inert and heat resistant and possessed low-surface friction.
- The white powder came to be used as a non-stick coating. It was named Teflon which soon became a household name for kitchenware.
