Jammu and Kashmir Public Service Commission
Jammu and Kashmir Public Service Commission came into being on 27th of
September 1957, under section 128 of the constitution of J&K. prior to this it
was public service recruitment board, established on 31st December 1954, looking
after the recruitment process of the state.
Major General Yadev Nath Singh PVC was the first Chairman of the commission. The
Chairman and the member of the commission are appointed by the Governor for five
years or till he attains the age of 65 years whichever is earlier
Functions:
- To conduct examinations for appointments to the services of the State.
- to advice to the State -
- On methods of recruitment for Civil posts.
- On the eligibility of the candidate for appointments to the Civil Services and posts and in making promotions and transfers from one service to another .
- On all disciplinary matters related with a government employee.
- Any other matter, referred to them by the governor. Except for those matters
consult the commission in specified matters. - The commission shall not be consulted under subsection (2) on matters of
reservation
in appointments for any class of permanent residents which in the opinion of the the
government is under represented in the service.
