Phytochemicals
- Phytochemicals are potential molecules that are finding applications in the drug industry. Researchers have computationally analyzed several phytochemical compounds and found a few that are able to bind with the non-structural protein 15 (Nsp 15) which is known to play a critical role in virulence of SARS-CoVs.
- These compounds are sarsasapogenin, ursolic acid, curcumin, ajmalicine, novobiocin, silymarin and aranotin, piperine, gingerol, rosmarinic acid, and alpha terpinyl acetate.
- These results indicate the need for in vivo and in vitro tests for further confirmation of the study.
- The details of the research have been published in the journal Phytomedicine after peer review.
