HE COOPERATIVE APPROACH TO JAN AUSHADHI KENDRAS

Introduction

The Jan Aushadhi Initiative, launched in 2008 and revised as the Pradhan Mantri Bharatiya Jan Aushadhi Pariyojana (PMBJP) in 2016, seeks to guarantee affordable access to high-standard generic medications for everyone. Through this initiative, Jan Aushadhi Kendras offer medicines at prices 50-90% lower than those of branded alternatives. The Pharmaceuticals and Medical Devices Bureau of India (PMBI) manages its execution. The establishment of the Ministry of Cooperation in 2021 has infused new energy into the scheme by integrating Primary Agriculture Credit Societies (PACS), particularly in rural locales.
