Chakhesang Shawl



  • The Chakhesangs, formerly known as Eastern Angami is an amalgamation of three sub-tribes namely, Chokri, Kheza and Sangtam, represented respectivelyinthe three syllables ChaKhe-Sang'.
  • This is an Exclusive GI Product from Nagaland. This is the feminine version of Rira. It is predominantly white and the spears are replaced by Eru- Wealth and Reward design. The shawls of Chakhesang are not only made of cotton but also made of nettle and jute plants.
  • The use of unconventional materials such as nettle. Deccan jute, the bark of the DeBarge tree is unique to this tribe. The dyeing of shawls is also done through the use of natural material that is collected from the forest Yams such as acrylic, polyester, wool are used for making the products.
