- India is contesting, for re-election, to the ITU Council, for the term 2023-2026.
- India has been a member of ITU since 1869 and has been continuously participating, actively in the works, and activities of the Union, and has been contributing, to the fullest possible extent, in the growth and development of Telecom/ICTs, for the benefit of the global community.

- The International Telecommunication Union (ITU) is the United Nations specialized agency for information and communication technologies – ICTs.
- Founded in 1865 to facilitate international connectivity in communications networks, ITU allocates global radio spectrum and satellite orbits, develops the technical standards that ensure networks and technologies seamlessly interconnect, and strives to improve access to ICTs to underserved communities worldwide.
- Based in Geneva, Switzerland, the ITU’s global membership includes 193 countries and around 900 business, academic institutions, and international and regional organizations.
