• Palaeontologists have found the world’s largest parrot named Heracles inexpectatus in New Zealand.
• Its name Heracles inexpectatus reflects its Herculean myth-like size & strength and the unexpected nature of the discovery.
• The giant bird has been estimated to have weighed about seven kilograms, which would have been more than twice as heavy as the kākāpo, the previously known fire-outbreaks in the future.
• It contains non-toxic substances widely used in food, drugs and agricultural products.
• The study has been reported in PNAS.
