3D printed gloves for Rehabilitating Stroke Patients

  • Researchers in the Department of Physics at the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bengaluru, have developed a soft, wearable 3D printed device that utilises the fundamental properties of light to sense a physiotherapy patient’s limb or finger movements.
  • A silicon-based polymer material is used that can be 3D printed to fit the patient’s arms and fingers. The customisable, 3D printed gloves can be remotely controlled, opening up the possibility of teleconsultation by physiotherapists.
