Hyperloop System for Coal/Mineral Transportation

  • Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kanpur has made a significant contribution to the field of transportation with its innovative compressed air-based pipeline system for coal and mineral transportation.
  • The traditional mode of transportation has always been a challenge, with issues like material loss, uncertainty in delivery time, and air pollution, whereas this newly invented system is designed to transport coal or slurry from one point to another with compressed air as its energy source.
  • In this system, the robot travels at approximately 120 km/hr and can transport the loaded block to the designated receiving/unloading sub-section continuously. Moreover, it also has a high delivery rate of 5.6 T/min/km corresponding to a pipe of just 40 inches. Additionally, the system also has an accurate, reliable, and continuous vehicle/robot positioning system.
