India’s first 3D-printed human cornea
- A group of scientists and clinicians at Hyderabad’s LV Prasad Eye Institute (LVPEI), IIT Hyderabad, and CSIR-Centre for Cellular and Molecular Biology (CCMB) has developed India’s first 3D printed human cornea which was transplanted into a rabbit’s eye.
- Donor corneal tissue was used for the cornea, which would otherwise have been discarded due to its non-compliance with optical standards.
