India’s First Night Sky Sanctuary
- A first-of-its-kind initiative has been undertaken by the Department of Science & Technology (DST), Government of India to establish a “Night Sky Sanctuary” in Ladakh.
- Hanle in Ladakh will host the Dark Sky Reserve as part of Changthang Wildlife Sanctuary.
- Among the highest-located optical, infrared, and gamma-ray telescopes in the world, it will give a boost to Astrotourism in India.
