The NTPC Ltd (National Thermal Power Corporation) has commissioned the “Largest floating Solar PV (Photovoltaic) Project” at its Simhadri Super Thermal Power Plant situated in the outskirts of Vishakhapatanam in Andhra Pradesh.

To establish a foot-sizing system for India, CSIR-Central Leather Research Institute (CSIR-CLRI), Chennai, has ventured into a project for collecting foot data from throughout India to have a “Footwear Sizing System” for Indian feet.
For a wide Indian population, 3D digital imaging techniques having a three-dimensional foot scanner will be used to scan the characteristics of the foot and will measure over 20-foot measurement parameters via an optical laser scanning system.
Design of footwear is a complex, multidisciplinary task spanning many fields of Science and Engineering. The comfort of a shoe and foot health is ensured by a proper footwear size. An ‘Indian Footwear Sizing system’ will be developed based on the foot dimensions of the Indian feet.
