Thunderstorm is a storm with lightning and thunder. It is also known as ‘electrical storm’. Relatively weak thunderstorms are termed as thundershowers. Thunderstorms are classified into three types – single-cell, multi-cell and super-cell.
The super-cell thunderstorms are the strongest and most severe. Thunderstorms can develop in any geographical location where warm, moist air from tropical latitudes collides with the cooler air from polar latitudes.
Thunderstorms are many times responsible for creating hailstones and flash floods. Thunderstorms are also observed on other planets like Jupiter, Saturn and Neptune.
