SRY RUCHI O COMMENT U ...... BUT U R NOT FULLY RIGHT AS U SEE SYLLABUS ITS 10TH LEVEL MATHS AND ENGLISH SO WHILE PREPARING FOR UPSC I THINK STUDENTS SHOULD KNOW ENGLISH TILL 10TH OR ELSE HE MIGHT NOT EVEN PASS ENGLISH SUB IN MAINS ALSO ..................

i agree to a little xtent only .. coz if u want that government should do something on it then it will again give reservation which will make others suffer .. english is only a little part of exam it is NOT THE WHOLE PAPER.. they can do well in other in other respect. .

There is nothing to be sad about that. At such a top executive level, people with reasoning are required. At such a level they need to think about administration, not for the benefit of poor people. Its so nice of you that u r concerned about the poor population of our country. But there are other ways by which poor can be helped. You know the condition of our Political leaders. Behind the curtain, they are the civil servants who's mind are actually working for the country. Here we need the sharp minds with decision making ability with reasoning, not the people who can mug up things in large quantities and vomit it over the answer sheets. English has become a requisite in the present scenario of globalization, and whoever wants to be a civil servant must have a basic knowledge of that language, they cant be dumb if they have to deal in English, if they are posted to some non-native language regions then what will they manage without a global language. They need a sound knowledge of English, nevertheless they have other sections to score more. So, be logical and hope for better people with better reasoning to be our future Administrators. Have a Nice Day.

yes. i am agree with u. people from lower strata who know that civil services is aim to change the society and who comes to know the real scenario of this exam are now totally barred.as they re unable to competete with those who have money and who can again manage coaching for this exam others will just appear in this exam..... really it is very very difficult to change your position in india if you are born in a labour class family.... may be never

I do not think that the syllabus of paper II is against the prsopects for aspirants from rural and poor areas.Because, the contents especially english and mathematics are of class X level. Every body could easily prepare with the new pattern alike no matter whether he is from rural or urban, poor or rich.

I think this is really a good decision made by them. Many of the Educational Institute in India are changing there pattern of syllabus and the change is to get a better and much more advanced knowledge. The whole syllabus is combination knowledge which are a part of Indian History ,Economics ,Social Development and Logical Reasoning ,Maths and many more. Each one of us should accept this change. Term Paper

there is no aptitude skills added , just added comprehension , it will be little bit difficult for non-english medium . btw some can qualify easily with paper 2 Q.paper , but i am sure they wont do good with main exam , but new pattern may kick out some good students who studied in regional language , and i think bihar state is poor in english , and lot many states ,where education is not so advance . i was aspecting some good logical reasoning question and some elementary maths , which are covered by all students . well , i dont understand , there are many students who appear main exam - mostly in hindi version , how they able to understand comprehension passage lol. and off course ,its a high level competitive exam ,so most probably the tricky comprehension passage are chosen . else it will too easy for engg students and metro cities students , who always spend most of there time spending in reading magazines , like delhi and mumbai noobs .:D . i think it just not fair , eng is not covered my many students , but maths was covered by every students . so i prefer ,to remove english . well its become easy for engg students , but they have to read the history , eco , polotics , where arts students already read those . so eng . maths and GS preferable ,but not eng . So should not have weightage more than 15% .in prelims

really.... its a "FABULOUS" syllabus..!!! n m very happy 4 dis.....

hi friends I am new to this thread.really a great thread.so can u people tell me whether the new syllabus and paper 2 that consists of english and di and other will be like that of one day exam. thanks

really this newly changed pattern of civil service is only for elite class those who studied in very good school and living in very competitive and advantageous society those who want to change their life and really do something for their people from rural background they are not placed equally, what this changed pattern will do is attracting all those MBA aspirant and this service of national importance shift to cream level of the society and only candidate from big city.
