(Success Story) Ruveda Salam first woman from Kupwara to

Twenty-six-year
old doctor Ruvaida Salam has become the first woman from the Kupwara district in
Jammu and Kashmir to have cracked the Civil Services examination. Her name is
now added to the small list of youth valley icons like IAS topper Shah Faesal
and cricketer Parvez Rasool. She has done the Valley proud by being first woman
from backward frontier Kupwara district to crack the civil services - a hitherto
uncharted territory for girls here.

University Grants Commission invites applications for the
award of 756 fellowships for the year 2013-14 under Maulana Azad National
Fellowship (MANF) for the benefit of Minority Students belonging to Muslim,
Sikh, Christian, Buddhist & Parsi communities for pursuing studies leading
to M.Phil/Ph.D degree (full time) in Sciences, Engineering &
Technology, Humanities & Social Sciences. Students availing themselves of
the benefit of JRF of UGC-NET or UGC-CSIR NET are not eligible to apply
The final marks of successful candidates of the civil services examination
were made public for the first time by the Union Public Services Commission
website on Thursday.
The move came following a direction by the Central Inforamtion Commission (CIC)
to make the results public on the UPSC website

For the first time in the history of the elite civil services
examination, Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) on Thursday made public the
final marks of all successful candidates who were recently recommended for
appointment to IAS, IFS, IPS and other key central services.
Interestingly, only four of them, including two women, obtained more than 50%
marks in the exam which is considered one of the toughest in the country. Three
of the four are from Kerala.
